Who needs sleep?

Oh dear... just noticed that I've finally crossed the 1000 hour mark playing Everquest 2. Scary thing is, that's only the hours that XFire has logged and doesn't include any of the time before I used XFire or the hours I've played using other machines!!!

The REALLY scary thing is that, despite having played 52 hours in the last 7 days, I still somehow manage to work full time, and have a 'proper' life as well as my virtual one.

Sleep is highly over-rated (honest).

Property matters... no really, it does!

In other, more pleasant, news; it looks like I may have (finally) found a house! Put in an offer at the end of last week (which was accepted) and have spent some of this week sorting out solicitors, mortgage applications and surveys... now I just have to sit back and wait.

Can't see why buying and selling a house has to be anymore difficult than buying a car myself: You have a 'thing' you want to sell, you set a price, the buyer takes a look (maybe brings a specialist to check it out properly), you haggle, you agree a price, buyer pays and claims his item. Can you imagine if you had to go through the same sort of grief when buying a car as you do when buying a house?

Ah well, fingers crossed I shouldn't have to do this again for a while.

Back to work blues

Ah well... it had to end sometime.

After a fantastic week in Prague, followed by a top weekend of motorsport camping at Thruxton watching truck racing, it's been back to work this week to find out what's happened in the time I've been gone.

Apart from the usual let down by suppliers, it would seem that someone doesn't like me as something new seemed to go wrong each day this week... routers, switches, domain controllers and proxy server all had some time 'off' this week... some on a more permanent basis. One of our gigabit switches in particular decided that routing traffic should be a game of chance and started randomly dropping packets! Shouldn't surprise me really... it is, after all, at least a week out of warranty!!!
